26.17 High-Priests and Chosen Ones in the land.

The highest ranks in a Divine Order tend to centre around the senior priesthood and most deities elect to place a single individual at the head of their religious order, often known as the High Priest or Chosen One. This is the highest 'position' a mortal can attain in Avalon. These illustrious offices demonstrate a trust, an unbreakable bond and bestow unique access to the realm-power of the patron deity. They also bring great responsibility to spread the Word of the patron, to enhance the patron's Reputation, to oversee ritual and festival - and, most significantly of all, to hold firm against pressures both mortal and divine, as Defender of the Faith.
